Book A Ceremony
To marry or enter a civil partnership you should:
Choose your venue; this can be Camberwell House or an approved venue of your choice.
Book a registrar. They will officiate your ceremony. There is a charge for this service, depending on the venue you choose. Fees to attend Camberwell House range from £68.50 to £401.50. If you want a registrar to attend another licensed venue, we charge between £767.50 and £1122.50.
If you require a registrar to attend a venue approved for civil ceremonies in the London Borough of Southwark, please provide details of your request or for a registrar to attend a place of worship, provide details of your request.
Give notice of your intention to marry or enter a civil partnership. Book a notice of civil partnership appointment or book a notice of marriage appointment. You'll need to do this between 3 and 12 months before your ceremony. We charge between £42 and £57 per person, depending on your immigration status. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
When you attend your appointment, make sure you bring original documents with you. If your passport is currently retained by the Home Office, you must get a certified copy and email it to registrars@southwark.gov.uk. You'll have to pay extra if we need to validate overseas documents.
Change your ceremony venue
If you decide to change your ceremony venue, you'll have to:
- give notice again
- pay a new fee
- wait up to 70 days before holding your ceremony

Travel from overseas
If you want to travel from overseas to marry or enter a civil partnership in England or Wales, you should apply for the relevant visa.
Have your ceremony overseas
If you want to get married or enter a civil partnership overseas you may need to get a certificate of no impediment (CONI).
